I know people that don’t tithe that have heard about it, have been taught about it, could probably teach a course on it.  Their excuse is that they give.  It doesn’t take any faith to give.  Are you tipping God?  I knew a millionaire that every time money came in; he tithed instantly.  I know another millionaire that would give one million dollars a year and get tons of recognition.  The other millionaire gave a lot more than that but didn’t tell anyone, just tithed.  The millionaire that gave the one million a year, it was kind of him to donate, but he was in sin because he wasn’t tithing.  Whatever is not of faith is sin.

If you are going to live a Spirit-led life, then whatever you do has to be moved and operated in faith.  Look again at Mark 11,

“But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your transgressions.” Mark 11:26 NASB

It’s not that God won’t forgive you, He can’t.  Forgiveness doesn’t mean you forget, but once you let it go, it is done.  It is powerless over you.

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.  By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that is coming, and now it is already in the world.  You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.” 1 John 4:1-4

In verse 4, when it says overcome them, he is talking about demons and ungodly influence.  You may be dealing with people at work, in your family, in your marriage who are ungodly.  When I start a conversation with most people, I ask if we can agree that God’s Word is the supreme authority on everything, most people say yes, and we continue with our conversation.  If they say no, then there is nothing to discuss because everything that I believe is anchored on the Word.  When you encounter someone who picks and chooses what they want to believe in God’s Word, that is an ungodly influence.  They claim to be believers or religious, but they take a stand contrary to the Bible.   I have had many people tell me they don’t believe in healing or prosperity or speaking in tongues, well guess what?  It doesn’t matter what you believe; it doesn’t matter what I believe; it only matters what the Bible says.  As long as your belief system is anchored in the Bible, then it does matter because you need to be saying three times more than what you believe.  Get what you believe settled.  Go to the Word, find out what it says, and settle it.

When you encounter an ungodly influence, you can pray and thank God that greater is the Holy Spirit that is in you than he that is in the world.  You have victory over this.  Look at Romans 8,

“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.  So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh-for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.” Romans 8:11-13 NASB

The Holy Ghost rose Jesus from the dead, the same Holy Spirit that dwells in you.  Jesus defeated all of the work of sin.

“If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.  If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” John 14:14-15 NASB

“Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.” John 14:1 NASB

If you are going to be led by the Spirit of God, then foundationally, you have to know that you can’t live your life by worry.  The Bible tells us not to be double-minded.  Some live in faith before lunch and fear after, others who live in faith in one statement and worry or fear the next.   Find out the promise, the answer, pray the promise, pray the answer.  Spirit-led people don’t operate in the world of fear.  You cannot live in fear, or you will become a cripple in your own life.  Don’t be a person who lives their life stuck in fear; you cannot be led by God and moved by fear.  They are polar opposites.  The Bible says fear not.  Choose I will not fear.  Put your foot in the ground and make a declaration, I am done doing that.

Fear and worry are gripping people.  So many people are taking medication for psychological issues, don’t hear me say that this is a sin because it isn’t.  You can deal with worry and fear, deal with the problems that are causing it, and get off of the medications.  Part of the problem is that the church world is not preaching about faith.  In most churches, the gospel has become fear, afraid of being found out that they did something wrong.  God has been portrayed as a whack a mole-like the old arcade game where you beat the mole over the head with a club.  That is the vision some have of God, and so their relationship with God is predicated on fear.  This is why the devil loves religion; it is based on fear.  The Bible says that the just shall live by faith.  That which is not of faith is sin.  How can you be led by the Spirit of God?  Get out of fear and get into faith.
